A Passion for Wine

Our Ever-evolving Journey

In 2007, two residents of San Francisco, one an agronomist from Brazil, the other an engineer from Germany, were seeking greater balance in their lives. Their busy careers had eclipsed their longstanding desire for a deeper connection to nature. Weekend trips to northern California’s wine country fueled this desire and paved the way for a serious quest to find a piece of land with farming potential. It took time, but patience and persistence paid off, and the pair found an idyllic, high-elevation parcel of pristine land in Lake County, California, just north of Napa Valley and a mere two-hour drive from San Francisco. Today, Nove Vineyards is the expression of their still-evolving journey and passion for creating beauty from nature.

The partners soon realized that their new enterprise required not just knowledge, hard work and patience, but also a deep humility if they were to realize their vision. Leaning on the wisdom of the distinguished viticultural minds they consulted, they began planting classic red varieties ideally suited to their vineyard’s unique characteristics, including Grenache from France’s famed Southern Rhône Valley and Malbec, a signature variety of southwestern France.

Overlooking Mount St. Helens in northern Napa Valley, Nove Vineyards resides in one of California’s finest grape-growing districts, renowned for its rich red wines, clean, pure air and the largest freshwater lake in California.

Nove’s sustainably farmed vineyard sits on a southwest-facing hillside at an elevation of 1,400 feet. Due to the site’s high elevation, excellent sun exposure, and rich, well-drained, red volcanic soils, its grapes ripen in concert with the natural rhythms of its unique terroir. Coupled with the vineyard’s abundance of pure, crystal-clear water found more than 350 feet deep inside volcanic rock, and a temperate Mediterranean climate, these conditions yield Grenache and Malbec grapes with deeply concentrated flavors.

Nove’s proprietors feel fortunate to have realized their dream and are grateful to the many accomplished and generous individuals who have helped them produce beautifully complex wines meant to be enjoyed at table with family, friends and good food. Passionate about every aspect of winegrowing, they look forward to each day and season and hope their customers enjoy Nove Vineyards wines as much as they do.
